Chapter One

Basics of Christianity and background

Christianity is the religion of following and trying to be like Jesus Christ. Jesus was a Jew who was prophesied to be born by a Virgin, This virgin is called the Virgin Mary. Jesus is the only Son of God. Jesus was sent down to Earth to teach about God, lay the way for the pathway to heaven, and then die for us on the cross to finally establish his forgiveness and create the way to heaven through him

Jesus did not do miracles for just anyone, he did these wonderful miracles only to bring glory to God, our heavenly Father.

Matthew 8:5-13

5When he had entered Capernaum, a centurion came forward to him, appealing to him,6 “Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, suffering terribly.”7 And he said to him, “I will come and heal him.”8 But the centurion replied, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant will be healed.9For I too am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”10When Jesus heard this, he marveled and said to those who followed him, “Truly, I tell you, with no one in Israel have I found such faith.11I tell you, many will come from east and west and recline at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven,12while the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”13And to the centurion Jesus said, “Go; let it be done for you as you have believed.” And the servant was healed at that very moment.

This is simply one example of the miracles that Jesus has performed. But the biggest miracle was when he conquered the grave.

Jesus was sent to die on the cross for OUR sins. He died so that we may have a pathway to heaven and be forgiven for our sins as long as we follow Christ. Not be a fan of Christ but actually follow and do as he commands. He was crucified and killed in this way. He laid in his tomb for three days before an angel came down and moved the stone that sealed his tomb, once the stone was moved, Jesus walked out and eventually showed himself to his disciples. he was raised from the dead. This is both true and symbolic. When you decide to follow Jesus you are letting your old self die and then a new you is being born where you are deciding to follow christ and “dying to yourself every day.” this is saying that instead of doing what you want, do what Jesus wants, don’t do something if you know it is a sin or at least do your best to stop doing that sin even if you like it.

Jesus is the embodiment of God’s love for all of us. Jesus is our second chance, our help in sin and our savior from the fiery lake (Revelations). With him being the embodiment of God’s love he also preaches love in his gospel, he wants us to love God, love our neighbors, love our enemies, and love ourselves. I think this is a great thing to think about. We must love God above all else, even above ourselves and family, then we must love our neighbors and then ourselves. We are all Gods creation and that makes us all loved by God so you are no better than the person next to you.

John 3:16

16“For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

this quote is one of the best quotes to define what Christ and God did for us. God let his Son die for our sins and Jesus knowing this complied.

Now many people say that they want to get to heaven their own way, maybe a different religion or maybe only follow half of what Jesus wants us to do but i tell you that this is not flexible. Jesus is the only way to heaven and it is very hard to follow him.

Matthew 7:13

13“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.14For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.

John 14:6

6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me

These back up what i said, you can only get to heaven through Jesus.

If you truly love Jesus, and you follow his commandments then you will find eternal life, but you must listen and follow him. You can’t just be a fan of Jesus. You can’t just sit back waving your Jesus flag and hope to get saved. You have to put forth the effort to follow and die to yourself everyday. Jesus loves you and so does God but they can’t ignore sin if you don’t try to repent for it, and yet still they dont ignore it, they only forgive it and that is already a lot.

Now a lot may ask “if we are trying to be like Jesus, do we ignore God?” The answer is no. You give glory to God and to Jesus but also you must realize that God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are all the same but also separate. This is known as the Holy Trinity
